BOWEN THE TECHNIQUE

BOWEN THE TECHNIQUE

Do you feel something in your body is wrong? Did your body have different and strange signals – symptoms that can not be accurately diagnosed? If you have tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully to heal yourself, then you found what you are looking for!

Bowen is the method that will regain the balance and harmonious functioning of your body so that it can restore its own defense mechanisms and in every particular situation choose the optimal balance to maintain health in a superior state.

If you have thought that the current “solutions” for getting out of the sick state are actually “hostile” to you and affect your health, then this is the right technique for you!

No doubt Bowen will change your life!

Give yourself a chance!

Challenge your self-restoration!

BOWEN TECHNOLOGY – holistic, gentle, non-invasive and effective health care .
The doctor inside you! Applying the specific and gentle movements Bowen, at certain points of the body, provoke the Internal Doctor who takes over the management to start a self-healing process!

Bowen therapy is made by gentle movements performed with the fingers or thumbs of the hands at specific points of the body. A very important part is the breaks between different groups of movements when the neurotransmitters receive and transmit the information from the sent messages.It is precisely because of breaks that the therapist could work with a dozen people at the same time (not with other techniques), and without much physical effort and energy surplus – minimal difficulty and maximum, almost instantaneous results.

CAN IT HELP ME?

The Bowen technique is recommended for all ages, from the newborn to the elderly, with acute or chronic problems. It also applies to athletes, pregnant women and people with special needs.

It affects the body at all levels: physical, chemical, mental and emotional. The results are impressive in both infants and animals, so placebo effect is impossible!

People with Acute, chronic, neurological and psychosomatic diseases after the Bowen procedure are feeling way better.

CONDITIONS THAT Boween therapy helps a lot are:

Musculoskeletal and joint problems: frozen shoulder, traumatic stress trauma, hip and knee problems, ankle sprain, back pain, sciatica, spinal distortion, any sports injuries;

Problems with the internal organs (lungs, kidneys, liver, gall bladder, stomach, intestine …), gastrointestinal disorders; Female infertility, ovarian cysts, fibromas, immune system disorder;

Emotional imbalance, tension, stress, depression, acute or chronic fatigue syndromes;

Respiratory problems – bronchial and asthmatic symptoms;

Stress and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Allergies and hay fever;

Emotional and Hormonal Imbalance, Brain and Heart Attack;

Autoimmune diseases, allergies;

Migraine and other types of headache;

Neurological Problems, Stroke, Parkinson’s, Shock Conditions Bowen Therapy is an adjunct to traditional medicine in the sense that it strengthens its effect without interfering with its prescriptions. The effect of Bowen Technique on the nervous system is very fine and it takes time for the complete manifestation of the effect.
In order not to interrupt the process of response in the body, it is best not to take other manual or energy therapies a few days before and after a session with Bowen Technique.

And much more…

WHAT IS IT?

The Bowen Technique is based on the theory that once a complete relaxation of the body is achieved, it begins a process of restoring its balance and harmony through its inherent inner capacity to deal with just every problem, whether on physical or mental level.

The Bowen technique is a unique form of neuromuscular recovery. It acts not only through the nervous system but also through the lymphatic and circulatory systems. Known for its effectiveness in internal organ problems as well as reducing recovery time.

Bowen Technique is a completely new concept for body treatment. It is neither derived nor similar to any other therapeutic modality:

Joints are usually self-assembled – without the manipulation of joints and bones, as in chiropractic.

Muscle tensions and strains are relieved and normal lymph flow is restored – without muscles being squeezed and massaged.

Meridians show an immediate improvement – without the meridian-based methodology, and includes acupuncture or acupressure.Deep mental relaxation and balancing of the vegetative functions of the body are observed.

Almost everyone shares a pleasant, relaxing feeling and a deep sense of comfort and lightness.

MECHANISMS OF ACTION. HOW IS IT DONE?

There are several theories about Bowen’s mechanism of action. One suggests that the Bowen movement stimulates the pro-receptors that are sensory fibers at the end of the peripheral nervous system. This prompts the body to rebuild and return to its natural state of health.

The Bowen Movement activates the following self-healing mechanisms:

Stretch reflex – Most Bowen moves are done either in the initial or final muscle space of the muscles or in the muscle body where the Golgi receptors are located. They inform the nervous system of the state of tension, elongation or shortening of the muscle-tendon tissue. These receptors are stimulated during the “provoking” or “rolling” of the Bowen movement. In case of pain-muscle-spasm-type neuroreflection mechanisms, we can cross this vicious circle by changing the stimulus from the nervous system.

Joints pro-receptors – all movements made around one joint directly affect the joint, the capsule and joints, which are richly innervated with pro-receptors. Again, a stimulus from the nervous system will begin, stimulating the normalization of the function of the joint without the need for forceful manipulations.

Fascia – Each Bowen movement is made at the level of superficial fascia and affects the connection between the fascia and the nerve, muscle or tendon that is mobilized. Fascia plays an important role in muscle coordination, body posture and overall structural and functional integrity. In the event of injury, they will all be negatively affected because the fascia becomes stiff, constricted, twisted and dehydrated. Usually, as a result of the sessions, loosening of tissue adhesions and improvement of body posture and mobility is noticed without gross interference and stretching.

Vegetative Nervous System Balance – Maybe its deepest and most important effect The Bowen Technique is right here where the body’s self-healing mechanisms are controlled.The Vegetative Nervous System controls 80% of the body’s functions and is very receptive to external influences. Many people today live in a constant state of stress and sympathetic over-stimulation of the Vegetative Nervous System. The treatment occurs after the BHC changes from a sympathetic to a parasympathetic dominant.

The Bowen technique seems to catalyze this change; during sessions, patients often go to sleep quickly or fall into a deep relaxation, noisy intestinal peristalsis can be heard. This suggests a change to parasympathetic dominance with stress release at a deep level. This may explain why several Bowen Technique sessions often activate the healing process when healing from trauma, illness or surgery is stalled.

Trigger points – some Bowen moves partly coincide with the places of over-excited (trigger) points. By releasing the trigger points, the existing pain relieves and the mobility of the joints and the muscle coordination improve.

Acupuncture Points and Meridians – most Bowen movements overlap with acupuncture points, and some actually cross two or three acupuncture meridians at the same time. Acupuncturists associate the indications and effect of Bowen’s movements with the corresponding acupuncture points. They also note rapid changes in the acupuncture pulse in response to movements or procedures. The overlapping of these two systems can explain the very strong energy component of the technique and its effect on the internal organs.

LEADING PRINCIPLES OF BOUWEEN THERAPY – MOVEMENTS:

The movements used in Bowen therapy are extremely characteristic and apply to specific points in the body. These include movement of the soft tissues in a precisely defined way, which can only be done with fingers, hands and / or elbow, depending on the area on which it is being worked. This effect stimulates nerve pathways and tissues and creates a hearth in the brain.
Movements do not aim to move or slide on the surface of the skin, but rather to displace the underlying tissues, using the looseness of the skin. Therefore, optimal hydration is important. Each movement covers a small area, depending on where the skin can move – usually, it is no more than two to four centimeters.Tom Bowen found that he could use certain areas in the body as reference points for other procedures and movements. For example, if the entire backbone is seen as a body shock absorber, some areas of the spine will be heavily loaded – usually this is the convex and concave part.

Tom Bowen calls the movements in these places stoppers or plugs. In fact, they do not block and stop anything, but they are a place where the practitioner can focus during the session.

Breaks. Tom Bowen was a very observant man. He has been able to notice any imbalance in the individual parts of the body and timely to start the therapy. After the session began, a few minutes later, he left the room and returned in a few minutes to check how the patient’s body responded. Depending on the answer, he makes an assessment of what else he needs to do. These breaks are probably one of Bowen’s least understood elements, but it is at this time that the therapy begins and the changes are initiated.

The duration of breaks is different between procedures and for different clients, and here the role of the therapist is very important, and he has to judge and feel how much time is needed.

The results of these interruptions are more obvious to more experienced therapists, whereas at the beginning of their practice, for many practitioners this is the most difficult part. Avoid other alternative treatments. Unlike other manual practices where the practitioner performs clinical correction of the client through manipulation, Bowen technique allows the body to self-heal with minimal external intervention. Due to the delicate and delicate nature of Bowen therapy and the long-term response of the body, no other forms of manipulatory therapy should be used for at least 7 days after they may affect the efficacy of the technique.
This principle does not mean that other therapies are less effective than Bowen, but it just takes time for the effects of the procedures to appear. If we look at any alternative therapy as a specific radio signal to the body, it means the same radio to work on two stations simultaneously.

HOW DOES the bowen therapy works?

The first step you should take in Bowen therapy is to have a therapist’s individual consultation about your medical history and the specific issues you would like to treat. In this way, the therapist will be able to assess the condition and prepare a personal treatment plan. Bowen techniques can be applied directly to the skin, as well as free and light clothing.
Before you start, the therapist may ask you to drink more water, for optimum results, for the cells and tissues need to be well hydrated. A typical session of Bowen therapy usually lasts 15 to 45 minutes. Customers are usually in a lying or sitting position. One session involves one or more “procedure”, each of which consists of several groups of fine, relaxing movements on particular muscle groups, tendons and ligaments. Movements are light but purposeful and can be done in lightweight clothing. A common approach in the session is to balance the whole body, paying attention to the lower back, then to the upper back and then to the neck. In order to minimize the need to break the customer’s rest, all procedures that are connected to the customer’s back are completed before he / she turns to his / her back position.

Between the procedures, the therapist will leave the room or sit somewhere aside and leave you time for rest and complete relaxation. This time interval allows the body (or the specific areas) to analyze the signals and decide on the actions that need to be taken in order to recover. Because the nervous system begins to regulate the degree of tension in the muscles, the practitioner feels when the client is ready for the next set of moves.

During a therapeutic session, the client often goes into deep relaxation or falls asleep, and heightens the peristalsis. These conditions are signs of relief from stress and a shift to parasympathetic influence.After the treatment, the therapist will advise you to drink more water and let you know about the possible physical and emotional changes you may notice. Several follow-up consultations will also be needed to monitor the condition and, if necessary, reassess if further therapy is needed.
